We’ve Got The Jazz! returns for Vol. 14 with Orlando Ratana, Daniel Nava and David Lavoie taking on the music of Wu-Tang Clan.
When Wu-Tang Clan released Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 1993, it sounded like little else in hip-hop. At the centre was RZA’s production, built from chopped-up soul records, dusty drums, piano lines, movie dialogue and samples pulled from seemingly everywhere. The result was raw, strange and unmistakable, and would go on to influence generations of hip-hop producers and musicians.
For this edition, Orlando Ratana on drums, Daniel Nava on bass and David Lavoie on guitar will dig into the Wu-Tang catalogue, reworking the samples, grooves and musical ideas behind some of the group’s most recognizable tracks as a live trio.
