We've Got The Jazz! Vol. 12 - Velvet Groove Tributes The Meters

We’ve Got The Jazz! returns for Vol. 12 with Velvet Groove Trio paying tribute to one of the funkiest bands to ever do it: The Meters.

Formed in New Orleans in the 1960s, The Meters built their sound around tight, stripped-down rhythms, deep pocket and an unmistakable interplay between drums, bass, guitar and organ. Their influence stretches far beyond funk and soul, with their music becoming a favourite source for generations of hip-hop producers, DJs and musicians.

For this edition, local band Velvet Groove Trio brings together Barry Mason, Dan Goldstein and Dave Lewis to dig into The Meters’ catalogue.

Join us Friday, September 11 for dinner, drinks and a live set of seriously deep grooves. Choose between the 6:30pm or 8pm set when booking.
