We've Got The Jazz! returns on Friday, August 14th with a tribute to the groundbreaking producer and composer J Dilla.
Though best known for his work in hip-hop, Dilla's influence extends far beyond the genre. His signature sense of rhythm, often described as "drunk" or "off-grid," challenged conventional ideas of time and groove and has become a defining influence on contemporary jazz. Artists including Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Terrace Martin, and countless others continue to draw inspiration from his music, making Dilla's catalogue as relevant on today's jazz stages as it is in hip-hop.
For this edition, David Lavoie , Dan Goldstein and Jeff Gammon will reinterpret music inspired by Dilla's remarkable body of work.
