We've Got The Jazz! Vol. 4 - A Tribute to D'Angelo
We’ve Got the Jazz is a monthly series at ODB led by local musician David Lavoie alongside a rotating lineup of Calgary’s top jazz players. Each volume pays tribute to an artist or sound shaped by jazz’s rich history.
We kick off 2026 with Volume 4, a tribute to the late D'Angelo, featuring Joanna Borromeo, Jeff Gammon, and Biboye Onanuga. Word on the street is that Joanna may lend her voice to a few selections.
D’Angelo was a pioneering force in modern soul and R&B, widely credited with shaping the neo-soul movement of the 1990s and early 2000s. Blending soul, funk, jazz, and hip-hop with deep groove and restraint, albums like Brown Sugar, Voodoo, and Black Messiah influenced generations of musicians and continue to resonate today.
Guests are encouraged to enjoy dinner and drinks throughout the evening. Reservation times are staggered around the music to create a relaxed flow. Smaller groups are seated for up to 90 minutes and larger groups for up to two hours. Live sets begin at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm.
