We’ve Got The Jazz is a monthly series at ODB featuring local musician David Lavoie and a rotating lineup of Calgary’s top jazz players. Each edition highlights an artist or group shaped by jazz’s rich history.
For Vol. 3 we are pleased to present A Way Ahead Christmas featuring music from the Strays EP with Way Ahead Trio. The trio will perform selections from their debut release Strays along with classic Christmas tunes to set the mood for the season.
Way Ahead Trio was created to explore the blend of electronic valve instrument (EVI) with acoustic instruments in the jazz tradition. The group features Jon May on drums, Adam Pettigrew on upright bass and David Lavoie on EVI and effects. Their debut EP Strays showcases original compositions and moves through a wide range of sonic landscapes from funky and groovy to pensive and ambient.
We encourage guests to enjoy dinner and drinks throughout the evening. Reservation times are staggered around our musical sets to create an easy flow and a relaxed experience. Smaller groups are seated for up to one and a half hours and larger groups for up to two hours. The trio will play 6:30pm and 8:00pm sets.
