We've Got The Jazz! Vol. 8 - A Tribute to Stanley Turrentine & Shirley Scott

We've Got The Jazz is ODB's monthly live series featuring a rotating lineup of Calgary's top jazz musicians. Each volume pays tribute to an artist or sound that has shaped jazz's rich history.

For Vol. 8, saxophonist Mark De Jong and trio pay tribute to Stanley Turrentine and Shirley Scott, two artists whose collaborations helped define the soulful sound of jazz in the 1960s.

Turrentine's warm, blues-soaked tenor saxophone and Scott's unmistakable Hammond organ sound made for one of the great musical pairings of the era. Together, they created music that moved easily between hard bop, soul jazz, blues and groove.

Join us for dinner and drinks alongside two live sets at 6:30pm and 8:00pm.
